“Hōkū Award Winning Female Vocalist of the Year”
Music has always filled Sistah Robi’s life. It is a part of her roots. Robi’s multi-cultural, multi-lingual background is also reflected in her music, which ranges from soft Hawaiian rhythms to funky reggae beats, from American pop songs to Polynesian traditionals. As long as it feels good, as long as it’s fun, she sings it -in her own special way.
Hawaiian singer/guitarist Robi Kahakalau mixes the sounds of her native islands with elements of reggae, pop, singer/songwriter, folk, and rock balladry, plus the occasional touch of jazz and R&B. Not only that, but her linguistic skills are as eclectic as her musical tastes — she’s fluent in English, French, Hawaiian, and Tahitian, and all four tongues show up on her recordings.
The outdoor event takes place from 6-7:30 pm at the Baldwin Home Lawn, located at the corner of Dickenson and Front Streets. There is limited seating on a first come, first served basis; low beach chairs and mats are welcome.
Paid parking is available in the lot behind the Baldwin Home.
Now in its 12th year, the Hawaiian Music Series is presented by the Lahaina Restoration Foundation and is sponsored by the Hawaii Tourism Authority and Outlets of Maui.
