MAMo at the MACC
Wearable Art Show

Yokouchi Pavilion & Courtyard

Saturday, October 12, 2019 – 7:30 PM

Trunk show preview begins at 6:00 pm for VIP ticket-holders.

The MAMo event was launched in Honolulu in 2006. A component of the Maoli Arts Movement, the Wearable Art Show celebrates Hawaiian design in fabric and clothing specifically in terms of cultural motif—definitely NOT a typical fashion show! Many traditional Hawaiian patterns and designs (as those in kapa and weaving, weaponry and tools, tattoo and adornment) take their visual clues from nature.

This fashion event grows in popularity each year. Don’t miss this unique experience!

This year’s wearable art event showcases creations by Maui’s Kanoelani Davis/PōMahina Designs and Anna Kahalekulu/Kūlua, plus Ari South, Kēhaulani Nielsen/Kahulale‘ā, Maile Andrade, Kawika Lum/Kawika Lum Designs, Marques Marzan, and Micah Kamohoali‘i/Dezigns by Kamohoali‘iKumu Kumula’au Sing Jr. and Haunani Balino-Sing, Nā Akua Ākea Project, the Ulana ʻIe Maui cohort, and Nā Kumu Hula Kapono’ai Molitau and Sissy Lake-Farm and their Hālau Nā Hanona Kulike ‘O Pi’ilani will be opening the event.

Emcees will be Vicky Holt Takamine, founder of the PA‘I Foundation, and Robert Cazimero.

VIP ticket-holders have exclusive access to the trunk show before the performance; all other ticket-holders are invited to visit the trunk show at the conclusion of the program.
