Event Details

Register today for Green Walks, a free forest bathing experience led by Hawaiʻi’s first certified forest therapy guide, Phyllis Look.

Participants will learn about the healing properties of green spaces and leave with simple ways to strengthen their connection with the natural world. Join us under the trees!

Green Walks are free, guided forest therapy experiences that teach simple skills to boost well-being in our public green spaces.

About this Event

The Green Walks project celebrates the healing properties of time outdoors through a series of facilitated forest therapy experiences. Participants on all islands will enjoy a short, sensory immersion in our public green spaces and learn simple ways to incorporate these self-care practices into their daily lives. Hawai’i’s natural beauty creates the perfect setting to form relationships between people and the natural world.

During the two-hour forest therapy (aka “forest bathing”) experience, we’ll be walking less than a mile of easy trail, as well as finding opportunities to sit in quiet contemplation and to share what we’re noticing. Hawaiʻi’s first certified forest therapy guide Phyllis Look will offer a series of “invitations” to help you re-connect with nature through your senses.

“Forest Bathing” (translated from “shinrin-yoku,” an established public health practice in Japan) is a growing global wellness movement backed by more than 30 years of scientific research on the physical and psychological benefits of immersing yourself in nature.

IMPORTANT: Please bring hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, fragrance-free mosquito repellent, a casual backpack to hold your stuff (including a rain jacket/poncho), and walking sticks, if you need them. For your safety and comfort, we recommend wearing close-toed shoes w/ good traction; light-weight, long-sleeved shirt & long pants. Also bring a towel to sit on.

Minimum age: 18 years old.
